BAR Chapter 13 · Area II · Blueprint II.D

Companies pay their people with shares and options as well as cash, and that pay is a real cost even when no cash leaves. The Blueprint asks you to recall the concepts (grant date, vesting conditions, valuation inputs and models) and to prepare journal entries for awards classified as equity and as liabilities, using a fair value you are given. Brightpath Health, a growing clinic chain, uses options, restricted stock units and cash-settled appreciation rights, so we meet all three.
