PTIN $18.75, three exam parts at $317 each, and the $140 enrollment fee: $1,109.75 before study materials.
The EA is one of the most affordable professional tax credentials. Here is every fee the IRS sets, using the current figures.
- PTIN$18.75, renewed each year.
- Exam fees$317 per part, paid to PSI when you book. Three parts cost $951.
- Enrollment$140 when you file Form 23 after passing.
The total
$18.75 + $951 + $140 = $1,109.75. If you retake a part, add $317 for each retake. Older articles quote $267 per part; that was the fee before the move to PSI.
Keeping it low
- Book each part only when your practice scores are steady.
- Your study material is usually the largest cost after the fees. CPA Notes includes EA notes, practice MCQs and timed mock exams.
- Remember the annual PTIN renewal and 72 hours of continuing education every three years once you are enrolled.
